泽田康幸目前是日本东京大学经济学研究科教授及大学项目评估研究和教育中心主任。2017年3月至2021年8月，他担任亚洲开发银行（ADB）首席经济学家及经济研究和区域合作部总干事。他是亚行在经济和发展趋势方面的首席发言人，并领导了亚行旗舰知识产品的制作和对区域合作论坛的支持。他的主要研究领域是发展经济学、灾害经济学以及实地调查和实验。
他曾与著名的发展和经济组织合作，其中包括JICA、RIETI、世界银行、东盟和东亚经济研究所（ERIA）、巴基斯坦发展经济研究所（PIDE）、孟加拉国发展研究所（BIDS）、国际水稻研究所（IRRI）、国际水管理研究院（IWMI）和孟加拉国农村促进委员会（BRAC）。
泽田教授在庆应义塾大学获得经济学学士学位，在大阪大学获得经济学硕士学位，在东京大学获得国际关系硕士学位，在斯坦福大学获得国际发展政策硕士学位和经济学博士学位。

亚洲发展：成就与挑战

报告摘要：

泽田教授将讨论亚洲惊人的增长成就及其面临的挑战，包括新冠肺炎疫情、灾害恢复力、老龄化和数字化等问题。这次演讲将基于亚洲开发银行（ADB）最近的两个出版物“亚洲的繁荣之旅：50年来的政策、市场和技术”及其特别补篇“亚洲的灾害恢复力”。前一本书概述了亚洲在过去50年中的惊人增长和转型，并讨论了从该地区的持续成功中吸取的关键政策教训。这本书的重点是政策、市场和技术在促进结构转型、人力资本发展、贸易和投资、基础设施、宏观经济稳定、减贫、性别平等、环境可持续性、发展金融以及区域合作和一体化方面的作用。冠状病毒疾病（新冠肺炎）的突然出现和随后的疫情突出了建设灾害恢复力的重要性，第一本书没有具体涉及这一日益相关的主题，而后一份补篇系统地论述了与灾害恢复力有关的问题。

Speaker: 

Yasuyuki Sawada is currently Professor at the Faculty of Economics, the University of Tokyo, Japan and director of the university’s Center for Research and Education in Program Evaluation (CREPE). From March 2017 until August 2021, he was Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Director General of its Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department. He was ADB’s chief spokesperson on economic and development trends and led the production of ADB’s flagship knowledge products and support for regional cooperation fora. His key research areas are development economics, economics of disasters, and field surveys and experiments. 

Topic: Asian Development: Achievements and Challenges

Abstract:

We will discuss Asia’s phenomenal growth achievements and its challenges including issues around COVID-19 pandemic, disaster resilience, aging, and digitalization. The presentation will be based on two recent publications by the Asian Development Bank (ADB): “Asia’s Journey to Prosperity: Policy, Market, and Technology over 50 Years”(https://www.adb.org/publications/asias-journey-to-prosperity) and its special supplement, “Disaster Resilience in Asia(https://www.adb.org/publications/disaster-resilience-asia)”. The former book offers an overview of Asia’s phenomenal growth and transformation over the past 50 years, and discusses the key policy lessons drawn from the region’s continuing success. The book focuses on the role that policies, markets, and technology play in promoting structural transformation, human capital development, trade and investment, infrastructure, macroeconomic stability, poverty reduction, gender equality, environmental sustainability, development finance, and regional cooperation and integration. The sudden emergence of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the ensuing pandemic underscored the importance of building disaster resilience, a topic of increasing relevance not specifically covered with the first book. The latter special supplement systematically address issues that are related to disaster resilience.
